The Wales International Balloon Festival is located at the Llangollen Royal International Pavilion,  Abbey Road, Llangollen, Denbighshire, LL20 8SW  – just follow the yellow signs.

BY CAR:
Just 30-40 minutes from the motorways
90 minutes from Manchester and Birmingham
60 minutes from Liverpool

On-site car parking for up to 500 cars

FROM CHESTER/NORTH WALES/WIRRAL

A55 – Come off at the Holiday Inn roundabout (junction 6) and follow A483 towards Wrexham
At junction 1, take the A539 exit to Whitchurch/Llangollen
At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Ruabon Interchange/A539
Continue to follow A539
At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Llangollen Rd/A539
Continue to follow A539 for 5.7 miles
Continue onto Abbey Rd/A542 for 0.5 miles
Turn right into Royal International Pavilion Llangollen, United Kingdom

FROM BIRMINGHAM

Follow A5 to Chirk
At junction 1, take the A539 exit to Whitchurch/Llangollen
At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Ruabon Interchange/A539
Continue to follow A539
At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Llangollen Rd/A539
Continue to follow A539 for 5.7 miles
Continue onto Abbey Rd/A542 for 0.5 miles
Turn right into Royal International Pavilion Llangollen, United Kingdom

BY TRAIN:
Mainline railway station at nearby Ruabon Station
Ruabon Station enjoys an hourly train service from 05.30am until midnight Monday-Saturday with a reduced service running on a Sunday. Chester and Holyhead bound trains depart from Platform 2 and Shrewsbury, Birmingham and Cardiff bound trains depart from platform 1.

There are rail services through to:
Chester, Holyhead and the North Wales Coast, Shrewsbury, Birmingham and Cardiff

Connections at Chester to:
Crewe, London (Euston), Manchester and Liverpool

Connections at Shrewsbury to:
Cardiff, Aberystwyth and the Cambrian Coast. Heart of Wales Line to Swansea and Birmingham

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much is it?
£10 adults, £5 children with no concessions. Children U5 go free?

 

Where can I park and how much?
There will be signposting to the official car parking and the cost is £2 per car.

 

Is there camping available?
All accommodation enquiries can be passed onto the Llangollen Tourist Information Centre on 01978 860828. This includes bringing campervans as there will be no mobile homes allowed to park on site, including the car park.

 

What time do the Festival gates open?
Opening times for both days is 10am, with Saturday evening running through to about 9.30. Sunday officially closes at 6pm to allow for the spectators to watch the British Iron Works Balloon Race.

 

When will I see the balloons fly?
This is very weather dependent. There will be an early morning flight before the gates open (approximately 7-8am). Find a good vantage point!

Balloons will hopefully fly between 5-6pm on both days, Sunday being the balloon race.

Balloons will do tethered inflations in the arena both days

 

Can I bring my dog?
Unfortunately not, due to the numbers of people expected to attend.

 

Do you need to book tickets or can you pay on the gate?
You can do both.

 

Is there disable parking available?
Yes and will be sign-posted.

 

Will the Night Glow and fireworks be both days?
No, Saturday evening only.
